Maryam - ArticlesWords, Words, Words: Rhetoric in the War on TerrorThe article analyzes the language used by the leaders in the War on Terror and brings forth its different dimensions showing how language is used as a weapon to seduce minds and mould public opinion in order to create a support-bank and an acceptance of foreign policy misadventures. It discusses how 'War on Terror' is a complete misnomer. Out of the Closet: "china's Other Tibet"Behind the 'iron curtains', ethno-religious repression against the Uighurs of Xinjiang goes on unabated. While the Tibet issue has received international attention, Xinjiang continues to suffer gross human rights violations. The internatonal community needs to give up political expediency and call for justice to suffering Xinjiang. Ideologization of Contemporary ConflictPresenting 'terrorism' as an ideology challenging all that the West stands for is a dangerous approach, as terrorism is a tactic, a reaction that needs to be approached psychologically and not associated with any ideology or religion. The role of religion as a peacemaking role needs to be understood.
