I can't believe it's already been three years since I introduced the chiropractic profession to Web 2.0 social media marketing. What first began as marketing on social networks like Myspace, YouTube, and Facebook, has expanded to encompass other integral and rapidly growing media outlets. If you were to take a snapshot at the growth of this Web 2.0 phenomenon back then and compare it now, it would appear like a virus that literally doubled every 24 hours.

When conversing with hundreds of chiropractors at business growth seminars I've spoken at over the past couple of years, it is apparent that many have been scammed by practice management consultants. The typical issue that I hear most often is that these "gurus" do not do what is promised and their marketing is very "black-hat" or deceptive. Truthfully, I don't have respect for people that need to mislead chiropractors or students to get them to join their agency.

When I've spoken at chiropractor seminars or homecomings, especially within the last two years, I've encountered loads of veteran doctors and recent graduates that have been victims of chiropractic coaching scams and bad practice management consulting. Usually, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I find that many DC's join these companies simply out of fear of failure.

Marketing chiropractic online doesn't have to be a headache like what some think. Being the fact it's only just a few years old, Facebook has recently exploded in growth and substantially risen in the popularity ranks. Solar power for homes is a great way to save money, while protecting the environment. It truly is rather ironic, when you consider how much time, effort, and money has been dedicated to acquiring more fossil fuel. The purchase of fuel from other countries, as well as the drilling for fuel domestically, has cost literally billions of dollars. Imagine if this time, effort, and money had been used to equip each home with solar power...

YouTube has literally taken the world by storm in only a couple short years. Everyone is watching it and creating videos in hopes that one of their endeavors will become the next viral phenomenon. This is also the reason why so many businesses are using YouTube and other video outlets for their video marketing campaigns. This being said, there is one sector that is barely touching the video marketing world and it's the chiropractic profession!

We've all heard the saying, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." Yet, it amazes me just how much I see this done within the chiropractic marketing and the profession as a whole. Far too many times I see chiropractors buying expensive media slots in the newspaper or on TV that are yielding mediocre results. It's almost like these media sharks are feasting on "hope," as the DC's that I come into contact regularly with think they've just purchased a winning lottery ticket or something.

There are numerous different ways to market your practice successfully and get floods of new patients from the internet in 2009. The social media explosion has given rise to chiropractic blog marketing and it appears to be really taking the profession by storm. This is because people have a natural voyeuristic tendency and like to peer into others lives. They are on a constant search for information and blogs are a phenomenal way to obtain that information.

If you currently have a chiropractic website and it's not producing new patients or sales from information products that you have, you are not alone. In fact 90% of chiropractors that have websites, don't know the first thing about driving massive amounts of visitors (traffic) to them to get new patients. Typically they are promised by their webmaster that after the site is created, the flood-gates will open and they will begin to get noticed by people in the community.

When it comes to chiropractic marketing online, there's been a massive shift that's occurred in the last two years by chiropractors worldwide. More and more are flocking to the vast, largely untapped medium of the internet to acquire floods of new patients. Be warned though, there is a correct way to promote your practice in the new Web 2.0 age and an incorrect way. Making certain mistakes that 95% of newbies online make will damage your reputation and cause you to be left out in the cold rather quickly.

We all know that chiropractic testimonials from patients can be very powerful at generating massive amounts of referrals. Not to mention it doesn't cost the doctor any money. This being said, I want to encourage every chiropractor to begin to build a library of chiropractic video testimonials for their practice! Many times it's very simple and easy to get them and patients that have been helped typically cannot wait to share their story with others.
