Bio Statement Dr. Mark Matloff, has spent more than 28 years helping people cope and improve. He loves to aid individuals, groups, and organizations remedy problems, find their goals, plan their changes, and then change for the better. His well-rounded psychology career includes work with individual clients, groups, organizations, and the general public. He has worked in public and private psychiatric hospital and mental health settings, directed a Crisis Center, and has been in private practice of psychology since 1983. In addition to his private practice, he is an Adjunct Psychology Professor at Columbia College, where he teaches undergraduate courses. He has trained and supervised psychotherapists and has consulted at mental health agencies. He has designed and conducted a variety of public workshops, including conquering anxiety, achieving self-improvement, achieving emotional self-control, conquering test anxiety, dealing with divorce, smoking cessation, stress management, and others. Mark wrote a newspaper column and has been featured on Syracuse television, radio, and newspapers. While studying gerontology in graduate school at Auburn University, he helped design East Alabama Services for the Elderly, an innovative multiservice geriatric day program, which he then ran. Over the course of his career, he has also done psychotherapy, consultation, and research with the elderly, consulted at area nursing homes, and has worked with Alzheimer's caregivers. He has most recently been a keynote speaker at the joint Central New Oork Alzheimer’s Association/Onondaga County Office of Aging workshop entitles “Caregiver Power Day.” He is the author of Strength in Caring: Giving Power Back to the Alzheimer’s Caregiver.
