![]() Nasser Elahi is an assistant professor at Economics Department of Mofid University – Iran, where he joined in 1997. He received his BA degree in Economics from Mofid University in 1995 and his MAdegree in Economics from the University of Tehran in 1997 with a dissertation on: “The Theoretical Foundation of State Intervention in the Economy: A Comparative Investigation” (in Persian). He obtained his PhD in Monetary and International Economics from Imam Sadeq University -Tehran in 2005 with a dissertation entitled: “The Impact of Globalization on the Economic Convergence and Trade Integration of Muslim Countries” (in Persian). He also has studied and taught Islamic Studies in Islamic seminaries for about 20 years where he received his PhD (equivalent degree) in Juridical Sciences in 1995. In addition, he has served in a variety of professional positions and through professional memberships, including vice chancellor of Mofid University from 2001-2006, memberand vice president of Islamic Economics Association of Iran (IEAI) from 2004 to 2006, and member of National Committee of Bio-ethics at National Commission of UNESCO from 2004 to 2006. He was offered a sabbatical leave by his university last year. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame - USA.

Globalization and Feasibility Study of Regionalism in the Middle East and North AfricaGlobalization brings about convergence of per capita income trends in the MENA region, while the North- South per capita incomes demonstrate divergent trends. Theoretically, this hypothesis is indebted to Matsuyama’s (1996) symmetric breaking and Deardroff’s (1998) multi cone theories and, in general, suggests the presence of global divergence and hemispherical convergence. The hypothesis test is performed using the difference in differences method. Globalization: an Islamic PerspectiveThis paper investigates from an Islamic perspective the consequences of globalization in general. To specify my argument in accordance with my understanding of Islam, I would strive to argue that globalization might be very harmful before society reaches maturity but very useful after that.
