![]() Movie Review: Shrink (2009)Dr. Henry Carter, a disillusioned celebrity psychiatrist in Los Angelos who's wife recently died, is lost in a downward metaphysical spiral -- and smoking boatloads of marijuana. ![]() Movie Review: ZombielandMaking zombie movies is like being in a punk band: unless you're cross-genre, there's nothing you are going to write that hasn't been written before. We've all heard the political dissent, we've all heard the three chord song structures, and we've all heard the fast drum beats on every song from a band before. ![]() Movie Review: Beyond A Reasonable DoubtIn this fast-paced courtroom drama noir remake of the 1956 film, Peter Hyams (End of Days) recruits Michael Douglas, Jesse Metcalf and Amber Tamblyn to star in a crime triangle where young, pulitzer-thirsty investigative reporter C.J. Nicholas (Metcalf) falsely implicates himself in a murder of a young street hooker to bring down a corrupt district attorney (Douglas). ![]() Movie Review: Shrink (2009)Dr. Henry Carter, a disillusioned celebrity psychiatrist in Los Angelos who's wife recently died, is lost in a downward metaphysical spiral -- and smoking boatloads of marijuana. Waitaminute, this almost sounds like the recipe for a Seth Rogan flick, but it's instead quite a somber film from up-and-coming director Jonas... ![]() Robert Pattinson: Single or Gay?It appears that a lot of people are wondering is Robert Pattinson single or is Robert Pattinson gay. Why, I honestly don't know. But here is the deal. In a day in age where more important things like whether or not we're going to pull out of Afghanistan or if president Obama is going to legalize gay marriage throughout all of the United States, people just seem to like this sort of trivial BS and guess what? You're one of them. ![]() Movie Review: Harsh Times (2005)Just before Batman Begins, Christian Bale produced and starred in Harsh Times, an excerpt from the end of a life of a soldier whose experience as in the occupation of Iraq has overthrown his initial Los Angelos thug lifestyle and sends him into the throes of a bloody American persona. ![]() Joaquin Phoenix, Casey Affleck's DocumentaryI'm going to pick a side and say that I fully believe Joaquin is pulling a Hoax, possibly Andy Kaufman style, but most likely more of a publicity stunt (where Andy Kaufman did his pranks for the pure hilarity, not to promote anything). He wants everybody to react to this character he's made to keep them strung along for this "documentary" Casey Affleck is making. ![]() Movie Review Surrogates (2009)SPOILERS WITHIN..
From the makers of Terminator 3 comes a film portraying a somewhat believable future where the average human being interacts with the rest of the world behind the veil of robot clones. A concept resembling that of today's internet identities, the chilling similarity to the growing trend of spending hours on end behind the computer at work or at home, from social networking to video game addiction, people just can't seem to pull themselves away from their computers. ![]() Paranormal Activity is Eventful, NOT new Blair WitchParanormal Activity, the super-low-budget movie that's actually been lying around for two years, gets a high rise in profits and it has The Blair Witch Project to thank. And when I say "super-low-budget", I'm mean embarrassingly low. Blair Witch was around $20,000, but Paranormal Activity managed to record over that figure with $15,000, which results as a slap to the face (or forehead) of Hollywood movie marketers. ![]() Morals, The Example of Roman PolanskiA lot of people are asking, what crime did Roman Polanski commit? On the radio today, I heard callers compare Polanski to Woody Allen (and point out that Allen was one who signed the film community petition) and say that these are the types of role models in the entertainment industry who challenge the morals of America. Meanwhile, on this same day, David Wells, the former district attorney in Polanski's case, admitted he lied, essentially admitting there being corruption in the judicial system.
