Robin Watts is the Hospice Care Consultant for Regency Hospice, which serves patients throughout most of North Georgia through their Hiawassee and Cartersville offices. Robin and her husband are life long residents of Rabun County, and they have one son, Josh, who is a student at MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. Robin has been in the health care field for 30 years. She is the author of the book “My Story: Creating A Legacy From Memories” and the founder of “Faith Partners”, a free class that is taught to civic and church groups throughout North Georgia as a guide to learning how to care for others when they need support during times of advanced illness or after suffering a loss. The training includes segments about living wills, journaling life stories, bereavement and grief support, communication skills, hospice eligibility, and the role of spirituality in health care. She is the founder of the RAK Club (Random Acts of Kindness) with the unusual benefit of no membership dues, only a willingness to offer non-monetary creative solutions to problems or needs for hospice patients and their families. Robin is the host of 2 interactive talk shows on the Internet entitled “Spirituality of Dying Well” and “North Georgia Community Resources”. She has spoken to community groups all over North Georgia on such topics as living wills, hospice eligibility, addressing the needs of employees who are also caregivers, and how to write your life story. Robin says she has found in hospice the element that seems to be missing from her past health care experiences, treating the person and their family - and not just seeing the disease. She sees hospice as hope. In the beginning of an advanced illness it is the hope for a cure, and later, as the disease progresses, it is the hope for a life free from pain, loneliness, and regrets. Robin strongly believes that hospice is not about how you die; it is about how you live.
