Sefu is an impassioned student and teacher of the game. He is intent on contributing to long-term athlete and coach development in North America and internationally. His path as a teacher-coach has been quite varied having had the opportunity to work with, and learn from, some of the top coaches, athletes and basketball minds in the world. Over an eight year span, Sefu has assumed increasing responsibilities in professional sports. Most recently, he was the Manager of Player Development / Player Programs for the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club (NBA); leading the positive personal, professional and social development of Raptors players to assist them in maximizing their NBA experience, function in their day-to-day responsibilities as professional athletes and prepare for their post NBA lives. Prior to that, he worked for the Detroit Shock (WNBA) and Detroit Pistons; while also expanding his perspective on athlete development working for the Toronto Maple Leaf Hockey Club (NHL). A graduate of the University of Windsor with a bachelor’s degree in human kinetics and sport management, he enjoyed many personal and team successes as both the starting point guard and team captain for the Lancers during a 5-year career. He was twice nominated for the Ken Shields TSN Award: a Canadian national award for outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, community involvement, and basketball (1999, 2000) and was a multiple recipient of the Benny Crowley Memorial Award for academic success (1997-2000). Born in Toronto, Sefu is always excited about talking Xs & Os to share his passion for teaching, learning and motivating. He has studied the game internationally having travelled to Serbia, Slovakia and Spain; and instructs at various camps, clinics and schools in North America. He is also a development coach for the Canadian men’s and women’s national team programs. Sefu will direct the Advanced Concepts course and co-direct several Essentials courses on the PGC '09 Summer Tour.
