Voltage alone can be used as a source of intelligence when the switched capacitors are applied at point where the circuit voltage decreases as circuit load increases. Generally, where they are applied the voltage should decrease as circuit load increases and the drop in voltage should be around 4 – 5 % with increasing load.

Power supply to electric trains in Norway is made by a single phase 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz power system fed mostly by distributed frequency converters. The extension of the system is about 2500 km and is operated interconnected and synchronous with the three-phase 50 Hz utility grid. The converters are either rotating as synchronous motor and generator connected via a common shaft or static carried out by power electronics. The traction power system in Norway is relatively weak compared to other countr

Best utilization of existing resources is important in most areas. Even more so if the resource is limited as the case is for hydropower. Unfortunately one single criterion for measuring the optimality of the hydropower usage is difficult to formulate and use in practical models.

Small distributed generation (DG) systems up to 100 kW are gaining popularity amongst the industry and utility due to their low emission and higher operating efficiencies. These DGs can generate energy from various sources such as diesel generator sets, small hydropower, photovoltaic, wind turbines and fuel cells.

Many researchers have speculated on the meaning of the phrase "non- Hertzian waves" as used by Dr. Nikola Tesla. Dr. Tesla first began to use this term in the mid 1890's in order to explain his proposed system for the wireless transmission of electrical power. In fact, it was not until the distinction between the method that Heinrich Hertz was using and the system Dr. Tesla had designed, that Dr. Tesla was able

An electric motor converts electrical energy into kinetic energy. The reverse task, that of converting kinetic energy into electrical energy, is accomplished by a generator or dynamo. In many cases the two devices differ only in their application and minor construction details, and some applications use a single device to fill both roles. For example, traction motors used on locomotives often perform both tasks if the locomotive is equipped with dynamic brakes.

The speed of a DC motor is directly proportional to the supply voltage, so if we reduce the supply voltage from 12 Volts to 6 Volts, the motor will run at half the speed. The speed controller works by varying the average voltage sent to the motor. It could do this by simply adjusting the voltage sent to the motor, but this is quite inefficient to do. A better way is to switch the motor's supply on and off very quickly. If the switching is fast enough, the motor doesn't notice it, it only notices
