Among the Nyishis, there are three different hypotheses/stories of the creator or the supreme power that creates the entire universe and its components is concerned. The North-Eastern part of today's India had enjoyed sovereignty of its own before the invasion of British. They never compromised with self dignity and were under the traditional village institutions and traditional justice system. Unlike the people of mainland India, the people of North East have unique history of its own.
