Vasco Kirov is born in Dobrich – Bulgaria and emigrated in South Africa in 1991 Vasco is working with metals since 1985. His previous education as a violinist helped him very little in a way of making him study History of Art as well as putting him on certain aesthetic foundation, which now he considers important. In 1985 he has entered the world of metal craft in the shape of an apprentice knife maker position in the Ethnographic Complex “The Old Dobrich”. Although he started as an apprentice, there was not master to teach him, so he had to master himself into a knife maker. He did this pretty fast. Working in a team with his brother he has accomplished numerous commissioned Artistic Metal works in Bulgaria between 1985 and 1990 apart from over 400 knifes handcrafted for this period. In 1991 Vasco moved to South Africa. and went into fine jewelry, working exclusively in 18kt. gold and platinum. Designing and manufacturing high quality jewelry is his passion and what he does for living for more than 18 years. The number of jewelry pieces that came out of Vasco’s own bench is well over 2000, and he is still designing and making jewelry in his studio in Cape Town – South Africa, as a full time job. Vasco Kirov has been awarded the following prestigious awards for excellence in diamond jewelry design: 1997 De Beers Shining light award 1997 Jewellex Double finalist and Overall winner 1998 PJS Los Angeles Best in category over $2500 1999 De Beers Shining light award 2000 De Beers Diamond-International Awards-Finalist 2000 Jewellex Finalist In 2004 he started a new venture in oil painting and sculpture. Palladium and platinum are undeniably superior to any other white precious metal used in fine jewelry manufacturing. Plenty have been written about platinum and its properties as compared to the white gold alloys. I myself wrote short article a while ago. The newcomer palladium is described as very similar to platinum. This is truth but there are differences and the major one is its price. Let`s live now the price part for the end and put the two metals together
To build your own ring, as you are often invited on some interactive jewelry sites have nothing to do with taking part in its design. Although it sounds very much like you are part of the creating process it is in fact a facility allowing you to choose diamond that suits better your budget and the setting you want it set in.
The title "designer" applied to any jewelry piece instigates ideas of high quality, exclusivity and individuality. It is however not properly clarified and sometime by my opinion misused. Marketers have their tools and use them shrewdly wherever possible.
The field of diamond engagement rings is one of the most competitive one on the net. The supply is much higher than the demand which calls for diversity and lower prices. One can help but also notice the diversity of prices for similar products, which does not look very reassuring. Above and beyond the price the overdose of diversity itself might bring confusion. If you search the web for "diamond rings for sale "you will get about 750 000 results from Google alone.

Classic diamond engagement rings are broad design category. The name "classic" applies to any design with solid aesthetic values and massive popularity. The first ones that come in mind however are the prong set classic solitaires and they are the subject of this article.
The three stone diamond engagement ring can be traced as far back as its famous cousin the solitaire diamond engagement ring. The classic three stone designs always have the middle stone larger than the two side ones. The equal size three diamond rings are often called anniversary rings, but there the classification is getting blurred by marketing language and traditional differences and becomes highly inaccurate.
Split shank diamond rings are beautiful. They convey message of individuality and style within the rather conservative design division of diamond engagement rings. There are many types of split shanks but their specific appearance is defined by the way they present the diamond. While the classic solitaire diamond rings aim to show as little metal as possible so the diamond look suspended on the finger, the split shank is more like a frame to the stone.
Some 30 years after the introduction of the first tension set ring by Niessing the number of designs based on its concept is overwhelming. This design proved that even in jewelry design one good idea can branch out into years of ongoing trend. Let`s see what is a tension ring setting?
From as far back as it could be traced the wedding ring was made from precious metal and when gold was out of reach, silver alternative was the usual choice. Things have changed since then and new metals entered the wedding band territory in order to bring new colors and exotic diversity to the existing traditional media. The gold is still even today the only viable alternative for yellow wedding bands, but when it comes to white the choices are many.
