They say there are as many attractions in Rome as there are people. That is even more amazing taking into account the fact that the historical center of Rome is comparatively small: it occupies the space between the Tiber in the East and Termini railway station in the West. Here one can see the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, the Spanish Steps, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican.

The Notre Dame, the Louvre…fortunately, these are not all the Paris sights, but unfortunately the tourists often don’t have enough time to study all the attractions of the French capital. To be in Paris without a guide can be a big luck because it allows to have a closer look at the capital, especially if you’re, as the Frenchmen say, “artiste”.

Every year on April, 21, Rome is celebrating its birthday. On this day the doors of numerous museums and archeological sights are open to public, and the streets, richly decorated with flowers, are flooded by sumptuous processions of gladiators, senators, and other heroes of the Roman many-century history.

Long ago the Montmartre used to be famous not for Bohemian cafes and cabarets, cancan and polka, and even not for tourist restaurants with disgusting food. It used to be known for…nunneries. Rome in winter is no less interesting than in summer. Besides there’s no sticky heat which is a characteristic feature of the summer Rome. When chilly outside it’s much nicer to drop in at a café and have a cup of hot chocolate! After reading several guide-books a head is in a muddle: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia…But the experienced travelers and Rome-admirers say it’s better to get acquainted with the city leisurely, step by step looking round Rome.

People have many stereotypes. Especially towards the other nations. Some of them are not merely stereotypes but the very truth, while the other are a complete falsehood. Before going to Paris and meeting the Parisians I used to think the capital citizens are all dressed-up, as if they have just went down the catwalk. And I was surprised when I saw the Parisians with my own eyes. They turned out to be dressed like millions of Europeans – each in his or her way. I mean there are people who keep up with the latest fashion trends and wear only Gucci

Musee d’Orsay is one of the best-known museums in France as well as in the whole world. It houses many French art works of the 19th-20th centuries, including paintings, sculptures, furniture and photography. The collection of the impressionist masterpieces is one of the best in the world.

Winter sales (saldi) last from 15 January to the first week of March, summer sales go on from 16 July to the middle of September. The leading designers considerably reduce the prices for their goods. Cheaper clothes, shoes and accessories are sold in the shops of less famous designers.
