2008 Mercedes C-class: Green and Oh-so Pretty

Stunningly gorgeous and pretty green. According to some Mercedes Benz aficionados, those are the words that best describes the all-new C-Class.

Earlier, the automaker has released the controversial images of its latest addition. According to aficionados, the images reflect the automaker’s commitment to elegance and the environment. In fact, it is the very first vehicle in the market to receive an Environment Certificate.

The certificate granted by TÜV Süd Management Service GmbH confirms the Mercedes Benz C-class’ environment-friendly focus. The automaker engineered the saloon employing further advances over the entire vehicle lifecycle. It has emphasized fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and selection of materials. Benz auto accessories Mercedes parts underwent stern monitoring and testing phases to come up with an environmentally-spectacular vehicle without compromising ergonomics and style. “The new C-Class is a further milestone on our way towards sustained mobility,” said Professor Dr. Herbert Kohler, Chief Environmental Officer of DaimlerChrysler AG.

The Environment Certificate given to the Mercedes Benz C-Class is one of the most elusive commendations in the auto industry. In fact, the Mercedes Benz C-Class is the very first car to yield such hard-to-obtain certificate. “The Environmental Certificate confirms our longstanding commitment to environmentally compatible product development,” said Mercedes Benz through a statement given. The automaker further elaborated the features of the vehicle. Mercedes boasts its fuel savings that reaches up to 6 percent compared to its ancestor. With respect to the exhaust emissions, C-Class’ nitrogen oxides emissions are reduced by 90 per cent. With regards hydrocarbons, it is lessened by as much as 86 per cent.

Before releasing the new version of the Mercedes Benz C-class, Mercedes’ pool of engineers analyzed the cycle of the model to assess car’s supremacy factors as well as its downsides. Mercedes engineers applied the concept of “Design for Environment”, an auto design philosophy that integrates car design and development with environmental concerns.

The “Design for Environment” (DfE) auto philosophy defined by ISO standard 14062 established the car’s magnificence in the fields of environmental balance, design and production, materials and process engineering, dismantling, recycling planning, and assembly. From the different systems to the minutest details of the car, the philosophy was uncompromisingly applied.

TUV also confirmed whether the automaker’s standards and data revealed by the automaker are indeed used in C-Class. The standards plus other C-Class information will be made available on the DaimlerChrysler’s website this coming January 19. So far, the C-Class is the second Mercedes model to boast environmentally oriented progress confirmed by experts in the automotive realm.
