The unfettered ray of optimism chases the clouds away to make Geneva radiate elegance and grandeur. The bright lights made this year’s Geneva Motor Show captivating and stunning. With lots of promising vehicles displayed there is no reason for the motor show to be lifeless, dull and boring.
During the press preview, a happy face illuminated Ford. In the motor show, the automaker introduced its new Ford Mondeo sedan. Amid auto congestion, brands and models find their way to attract spectators and eventually transform them into loyal enthusiasts who would be on Ford’s side for the long run.
DaimlerChrysler rolled out a sunny roadster in the form of the Dodge Demon. The pretty little daredevil roadster is said to have the potentials of a guaranteed star. The appearance of the roadster is inspired by its famous sibling - the Dodge Viper.
The Geneva Motor Show is also famed for showcasing eclectic designs, exotic cars and bizarre vehicles. These cars may not have common auto parts like Edge products but they simply spell exceptional. The Audi A5 and S5, the salvo of the automaker, are unveiled to rival rich German two-doors like the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz CLK. These cars flaunt ruggedly handsome lines blended with extra powerful performance. Audi’s pride vehicles are set to hit the United States this fall.
The 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class boasts off a clean green machine and a rampaging racecar qualities in one sleek new car. The C-Class offers a wide range of engines ranging from four, six, and eight-cylinder. However, the American market will initially enjoy the gasoline-powered V6 engine. The high-performance variants with the V8 are now in the works.
The future looks brighter in Geneva, thanks to the futuristic designs and concepts showcased in the motor show. The BMW M3 Concept is said to be a probable hot commodity. One great asset of the vehicle is its performance. The high-revving four liter V8 engine is capable of producing more than 400 horsepower. The new BMW M3 arrives in American showrooms in the early part of 2008.
Series of successes seem to hound Toyota. At the motor show, the Japanese automaker set forth the Hybrid X - a hybrid that radiates performance, safety and fun. Laurent Bouzige is a renowned designer and also is the juice behind the style of the Hybrid X's interior. Bouzige explained that crystal-like rods serve as door handles and window switches. In addition, he said the headlights theoretically "communicate" with pedestrians and other drivers by alerting them to any quick maneuvers by the driver.
Volvo delivers the Scandinavian philosophy via the V70 and the XC70. The cars display the distinctive characteristics of Volvo that include safe, spacious, catchy and boxy enough for the purists to be relieved. The XC70 arrives in the United States late this year, and the V70 will come early next year.
The Maserati GranTurismo hits Geneva by flaunting smooth and aggressive lines designed by Pininfarina of Italy. It is also given tasteful applications of aluminum and chrome trim. The vehicle is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine.
The pricey Bentley Brooklands, which is valued like a house, carries an imposing stature. It is powered by a 530-horsepower 6.7-liter V8 engine. As expected in the Bentley brand, the interior is given more wood and leather than its American counterparts.
