The age of modernity has brought people into the complexity in life and other stupendous changes. From simple living, people are now more satisfied with high end technologies of communication, transportation and other aspects. Aimed at making one’s work faster and effectively, these technologies are never meant to ruin the habitat of mankind. They are, as a matter of fact, built to solve problems but they are turning out to be carriers of problems. And these problems are in the forms of disputes, immorality, alienation and pollution. Among these, pollution is the one that the government as well as the constituents is primarily focusing on. This is because it affects the physical strength of the workforce that bolsters the country’s standard of living.
It is but obvious that pollution is already very prevalent in this modern age due to several machines that excrete wastes. Various types of diseases such as pulmonary track infections, bronchitis, and allergies are prevailing and continuously making the human body weak, which, in effect, lessens the physical strength of the labor force. And the most contributing pollution agents are the vehicles.
Several steps and alternatives have been thought about by the legislators and car makers to solve the problem but still there is no concrete policy or sanction on automobiles that would deter the goal of the government in solving pollution problems. Policy maker always convene to tackle certain issues but do they really make plans and implement them to help save the ecosystem?
The AIADA news letter revealed that automakers disagreed on what finally may end up as the fuel of the next generation. The disagreements took place at the Michigan Alternative Fuel Forum in Ann Arbor MI. and the fuel of the future pertains to Hybrid Electric, Clean Diesel, Gasoline, Bio-Fuels or Hydrogen, or all of the above. There were 700 participants in the event.
When the Detroit News was covering the event, it reported that car companies do not agree on the best choice and that some deem that what is best for the ecosystem as well as to the customers is a combination of options.
The Chairman of Mechanical Engineering at University of Michigan, by the name of Dennis Assanis, said that the forum was essential because there is no single solution to lessen America's demand for foreign oil.
In the forum, their two targets are ecosystem and the customers. As far as the environment is concerned, the automakers have different approaches on how to make their vehicles’ more eco-friendly. On the side of the customers, the goal of the auto makers is to lessen the fuel consumption due to the continuously rising fuel prices. Nonetheless, on this aspect, the auto companies still have different strategies, as found out in the forum, to over ride the problem.
Toyota Motor Corporation said that their company use hybrid vehicles as the platform on all its alternative fuel programs. According to Chuck Gulash, the Toyota vice president for research and materials in North America, the top Japanese car company will make reinventing its hybrid power train the main focus or target of its efforts to bolster alternative fuel.
Toyota sold its 1 millionth hybrid car earlier this year and it took the company a decade to reach such sales. Chuck Gulash said that their goal now is to sell 1 million hybrid cars every year.
At the same forum, Ford Motor Company highlighted their aspiration to make half their rush ethanol-capable vehicles as well as to continue working on fuel cells and hybrids.
General Motors Corporation, maker of quality GMC clutch kit, has the same goals as Ford probably they will just take the other avenue in achieving such goal.
Since the public and the entire economy is expecting a lot from the car companies, the latter need to double their efforts in achieving their goals so that they could further contribute to the preservation of the now deteriorated environment as well as to the economizing of the buying public and the foreign oil dependency. These companies together with the state must work hand in hand on this concern and double their time while the entire economy is not yet that bad.
