For several years in the North American, market for used sedans has witnessed an all-out war between the used Toyota Camry and pre-owned Honda Accord. So, not surprisingly, General Motors engineers have taken them as an example for the total redesign of the Chevrolet Malibu.
If you would like to consider buying a used Malibu sedan is available in four models: LS, LS1, LS2 and LTZ, each progressively add more elements of luxury and standard equipment. The used LTZ with the V6 engine of 3.6L, and the standard LS with a 4-cylinder 2.4L are highly popular used vehicles.
The 4-cylinder 2.4L that produces 160 horsepower and has a fuel efficiency of 22 mpg in traffic, and up to 30 mpg on roads open, this comes with automatic transmission with four-speeds. The second is the same but with a four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic gearbox, The third is the 3.6L V6 that produces 252 horsepower, with a fuel consumption rating of 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the open road, it comes as standard on the LTZ. Finally, the newest version of the used Malibu is a hybrid based on the same 4-cylinder 2.4L but with an electrical system that assists engine combustion.
In addition, the Malibu is available in a used hybrid vehicle version with an electric motor that assists the gasoline engine and promises to pay out up to 32 miles per gallon on the road, and the version of five-door Malibu MAXX, which is still based on the Malibu previous generation, used car.
At first glance, the used Malibu impresses-especially when we see higher LTZ version with its silvery 18-inch wheels, chrome exhaust and fog lights, among other touches of distinction. The newer exterior design seems to present a great harmony between the elegant and sporty, but not with extremes. The big split front grille proudly displays the logo of the golden mark-as if the car was saying, "Look, I am a Chevrolet!" The aerodynamic profile is distinguished by high doors and short trunk with a capacity of 16 cubic feet, which help create a more spacious interior now becoming highly sought after by many buyers of used cars.
The truth is that the used Malibu of the last few years has a vastly improved new attention to detail and quality of materials especially inside the vehicle, and combined with the smooth handling and low engine and exterior noise allow occupants of this quality used vehicle to make the most of my favorite XM radio station XM. Chevy has a used car winner in their hands and is in a great position when it comes to the competition in the form of a used Camry or a pre owned Accord, the Malibu is a very capable used auto contender, and car that is very important in the history of this classic American brand.
The interior is practical, with a well-designed instrument panel; the indicators are simple and easy to read, illuminated by a light blue. The used LTZ version is especially attractive with a design of two-tone colors in the interior, chrome accents, center console, leather seats, and sound system with eight speakers, XM satellite radio and OnStar, among other amenities offered from this quality used vehicle.
Thanks to the independent suspension at all four wheels and a long distance between the axles of 112.3 inches, the Malibu behaves like a luxury used car: smooth, balanced and quiet. This is a good all round quality used vehicle worth investigating.
