Chevy Malibu Named Best Redesigned Vehicle

General Motors is in the process of rebuilding its reputation and bringing consumers back into their showrooms after a tumultuous year which has seen their share of the market dwindle. Developing new vehicles is one of the steps being taken by the automaker in its turnaround plan. Another step is to redesign existing nameplates. And the automaker's redesign of the Chevy Malibu recently attracted the attention of the auto industry.

Kelley Blue Book, a provider of new and used vehicle information, recently named the Chevy Malibu as the winner of the 2008 Best Redesigned Vehicle award. The Auto Channel reported that the Chevy Malibu was given the accolade for its ability to take the midsize sedan competition to a new level. The Malibu is up against heavyweights in the class with the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord as its main competitors.

The review of the 2008 Chevy Malibu shows that the new sheet metal of the vehicle has been praised a lot. The interior of the vehicle also received rave reviews. The surprise in the Chevy Malibu does not stop there as the performance of the vehicle was also improved. To top it all, the Chevy Malibu is being offered at an affordable price.

"The 2008 Malibu solidified its case for kbb.com's '2008 Best Redesigned Vehicle' with a top-to-bottom, inside-and-out remake that's nothing less than game-changing," said Jack R. Nerad, the executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book. "The new Malibu has earned its place at the top of one of the toughest and most competitive categories in the industry. It can take on any competitor head-to-head."

Other vehicles which were included in the top ten are the Audi TT, Cadillac CTS, Honda Accord, Infiniti G37, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Mitsubishi Lancer, Porsche Cayenne, Saturn Vue, and the Toyota Highlander. The redesign on these vehicles has made them better than their predecessors that they would only look better with accessories from the Auto Ventshade Company.

"As we've come to expect in recent years, each vehicle on this year's list of finalists represents a huge step forward versus its predecessor," said Nerad. "The presence of the CTS and Vue along with the Malibu marks a significant resurgence in product offerings from the domestic manufacturers. The domestics have proven they can play in the big leagues again with no excuses."

It is the second consecutive year that a Chevrolet has won the award. Last year, Kelley Blue Book named the Chevy Silverado as the best redesigned vehicle for 2007.
