First, the inner and outer hoops are connected by using a tight Silicone RTV seal, and then the wheel face is fastened to the hoops by perimeter bolts on the edge of the wheel face. 3 piece wheels are often the most expensive Corvette wheels, but if they are damaged, only the damaged piece needs to be fixed or replaced, resulting in lower repair costs. The forging process of 3 piece wheels also gives them very high strength and durability properties compared to other rim types.

The other prominent kind of Corvette wheels is the forged monoblock or "1 piece" rim. A monoblock wheel is made from a single piece of forged T6-6061 aluminum alloy. Because it does not use additional parts like other multi-piece rims, the monoblock rim is the lightest of any Corvette wheels. This makes them popular amongst Corvette owners looking for increased performance because the lighter weight results in faster acceleration, improved fuel efficiency, and shorter stopping distances. Monoblock rims also retain the same high-strength properties as other forged rim types.
