The latest offering from Lotus Australia will definitely excite, entice, and would make you wish you are an Aussie. The exclusively tuned Lotus Exige which will be called Lotus Sport 240 will go on sale in Australia. The Sport 240 was designed and created by Lotus Cars Australia and will make its debut at the Australian International Motor Show in October.
The Sport 240 has a power increased of up to 179kW and it is also the first production car in Australia to be ever fitted with a driver-adjustable stand-alone traction control similar to those used in Formula 1. This is one of those cars which should not to be without Weathertech floor mats.
According to Jonathan Stretton, Sales and Marketing Manager of Lotus Cars Australia, the Exige is "designed specifically for Australia, we are excited and proud to add this bespoke Exige to our existing range. Cars like the Exige Sport 240 show our passion and commitment to the Australian market. This Exige Sport 240 will only be available in Australia. We have worked with the Lotus factory in the UK to select specific styling and performance parts based on what we know will improve performance, but also taking into account customer feedback and current trends in this market. The Exige Sport 240 is a car entirely comfortable on the road for everyday use. Take it to the track and it will be blisteringly quick and will outpace cars two or three times the price."
The Exige Sport 240 is not only given with more power but an equally efficient brakes, body mods, two bespoke colours, interior changes, an dlimited edition badging. This is so far the most exclusive Exige to hit Australian Lotus Show showrooms.
There would only be six Exige Sport 240s that would be launch wearing the colors of Blaze Orange or Sapphire Black and each would have a special edition interior plague. The Blaze Orange model will have black highlights including front splitter, rear wing endplates, wheels, and a rear beaver panel infill around the rear lights. Meanwhile the Sapphire Black model is given a Chrome Orange front splitter and rear wing endplates.
Both Sport 240 models will feature lightweight Lotus Sport forged five-spoke OZ alloy wheels. The Blaze Orange has wheels in black finished while the Sapphire Black uses silver. This wheel design is used for the first time on an Australian model.
Another first time in Australia is the signature Exige roof scoop that extends forward from the engine compartment to the top of the windscreen increasing the supply of air to the intercooler and at the same enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the vehicle. A special Exige Sport 240 badging will be used to mark the exclusive model’s exterior.
The power output of the Sport 240 as its name suggest is 240hp or 179kW which is a 10 percent improvement over the Exige S. Torque was also increased from 215Nm to 230Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, 0 to 160km/h in 9.9 seconds, and its top speed is 249km/h.
