Twenty-five years ago Mercedes-Benz introduced the 190 Model which laid the foundations for the best-selling model series in the history of the brand. And starting from the introduction of the C-Class until today, Mercedes-Benz has already delivered around six million C-Class models to customers worldwide.
The Mercedes C-Class is already on display in dealer showrooms throughout Ireland. Prior to the launching of the C-Class some 65,000 orders have already been received by Mercedes-Benz for this new model.
The new C-Class is offered in three model variants namely the Avantgarde, Elegance, and Classic lines. All the variants will share the latest state-of-the-art technology that includes a couple of standard safety features such as:
- Pre-Safe (Anticipatory Occupant Protection System)
- Agility Control Package (Selective damping system/direct steering)
- Adaptive Brake (Newly developed braking system for even more safety)
- Neck-Pro Head Restraints (Crash responsive head restraints)
- 7 Airbags (including drivers kneebag)
- ESP (Electronic stability programme)
- Headlamp Assist (Automatic light function)
The fourth generation C-Class will also introduce the “New Diversity” concept, which enables the Mercedes-Benz customers to tailor the new C-Class to their preference and lifestyle. The Avantgarde model will have a more youthful and agile image with a large Mercedes-Benz star that is incorporated in the front grille, a design that is commonly associated with Sporty Mercedes-Benz models.
The Elegance model Mercedes-Benz is equipped with a three dimensional louvered grill with high gloss finish that highlights the brand’s typical attributes such as luxury and comfort. And for the first time in a Mercedes-Benz saloon, the radiator grill is used as a distinguishing feature to position the model variants more clearly in the market.
The C-Class range that is offered in Ireland will consist of eight models---five petrol and three diesel models. Aside from the extensive standard specification of the C-Class it also offers customization based on the available options.
The output of the supercharged four-cylinder engines has also increased by 13 percent, while its torque figures increased by 18 percent. The C180 Kompressor is also made more economical and consumes 0.3 liters per 100 kmh while the 200 Kompressor has been reduced by 0.5 liters per 100kmh.
The C-Class range has grown from being the “Baby Benz” to becoming Mercedes-Benz bestseller for 25 years. And with the introduction of the fourth generation C-Class (W204 Series) it will again provide the Mercedes brand with a great opportunity to increase its business further for the next couple of years.
