Goodwill Industries in Delaware

Goodwill Industries of Delaware was incorporated by Rev. J. H. Beauchamp at Asbury Methodist Church in 1921. Since then, they've helped countless people make their lives better. This is not achieved by giving handouts, as some charities do, but simply by lending a helping hand when needed. Rather than just giving people money and items, Goodwill Industries helps them to become self-sufficient by giving the training they need to find work and become productive members of society.

What started with simple job training programs has now developed into an organization that helps thousands of people each year. Their vocational programs are top notch and continually improved upon. They lead the way in terms of education, training and employment.

Like Goodwill Industries nationwide, Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County operates in three main ways - Goodwill Stores and Auctions, Goodwill Janitorial Services, and Goodwill Staffing Services. They employ people from all walks of life in every aspect of the business and helps them to learn new skills as they work.

The first one - Goodwill Stores and Auctions - is what the organization was founded on almost one hundred years ago. For this to continue funding their various projects, they need public donations more than ever. Whether it's clothes, furniture, or even a used car, donations are vital to the everyday running of this charity.

This year, Goodwill Industries of Delaware and Delaware County will hold the 2009 Goodwill Annual Awards Luncheon at the Chase Center on the Riverfront on Friday, May 1, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Local leaders will be recognized for all of their contributions. The Luncheon Chair is Michael Berardi, President of Nason Construction. Mark Pryslak, Vice President of WSFS Bank, will act as co-chair. If you live in Delaware County, why not drop in to show your support of all the wonderful people who help to make Goodwill Industries such a success.
