Learn How to Handle a Car Crash Scene

No one wishes to be involved in a car accident, but if it happens, you have to know some basic road accident advice. This is simply because of the fact that you will probably be involved in at least one accident throughout your lifetime. At least, that's what the numbers say. The following is a set of recommendations if you ever have to go through a car accident.
Anyway, the first thing you need to do is to immediately stop at the scene. Not doing this is called "hit and run", and it's a criminal offense. After you stop your vehicle, check yourself and the other passengers in your car (if any) for injuries. If everything is OK, get out of your vehicle and do the same thing with the other persons involved in the accident. If anyone has visible health problems, make sure that you call an ambulance, telling them the exact location of the accident.
Then, you must inform the police. If the accident is serious, you must do it right away. If it's minor, you must do it in a 24 hours interval. After doing this, you must start collecting data about the accident. In the heat of the moment, many drivers forget to do this crucial step, and later find themselves regretting it.
Take a piece of paper and a pen and start writing everything down. Details are very important, and you must record them while they are still fresh in your mind. Start with the other driver(s) involved in the accident. Take their details: name, address and phone number. If there are any witnesses present at the scene, do the same thing with them too. Also, don't forget to provide everyone whose details you take with your own.
Then, write down everything else about the accident. Note the weather conditions at the time of the event. Note the exact location of the event. Write down the time of the accident and the visibility (clear, foggy). Also, if the accident happened inside a town, take note of there is proper lighting (in the case that the accident happened at night, of course). Write down the models and the colors of the cars involved, as well as the damage they sustained.
If you are lucky enough to have a photo camera at you, it's better. If not, ask everybody present at the scene for one. Take pictures of every little detail you can think of. These pieces of evidence may prove to be very important later, in case you want to get road accident compensation.
You can also assist the police with all the data you managed to collect. Also, you can make yourself useful by taking care of the possible injured persons or by calming other people down, making sure that they don't make the situation even worse.
If the accident wasn't your fault, you can request compensation. There are basically two ways to do this. Getting compensation solely from your insurance company or hiring a road accident specialist who will professionally handle the claim for you. The former is recommendable for minor losses, while the latter is for more serious injuries and damage situations.
If you consider that the losses you suffered are minor and there isn't any point in contacting a lawyer, then the first thing you need to do when you get home is to call your insurance company. If, however, your losses are more severe, then you should contact an attorney who will guide you through the process of claiming compensation.
The attorney is more advisable in serious cases. That's because he will manage to get the biggest compensation possible in your case, while the insurance company will probably try to give you the minimum amount. Being represented by a lawyer also saves you time for recovery, because he will attend to almost all matters regarding the case. You will only have to go to periodical medical examinations, as an assessment of your injuries and their consequences in time is a must. That will help you get the compensation you deserve.
However, my hope is that you will never have to go through all these. But the big number of road accidents is a reality, and when or if it happens, you must know what to do. You must stay calm and not panic. The more you manage to do that and follow the simple car accident advice I've given you, the better.

In an auto accident and terminated from work before you were released from the doctor
By: Gizmo | 29-05-2008
my husband was on his way home from work as a truck driver and was in his own vehicle and was rear ended. This was on 03/01/08 and hasn't been able to return to work at this time, he has called and informed his job on numerous occasions and each time they have told him just let us know when you are released to go back to work, we are waiting for you....he was still withing his 90 day probationary period at work....he was just sent a certified letter of termination...does anyone know if we can hold them liable for medical bills and his salary since he was coming straight home from working that night? Or who I would contact to find that information out?
Medications that take away your libido, along with chronic pain,,,help
By: cupcake213 | 02-04-2008
When a couple have been together for 7 1/2 years, still madly in love, but we have both aged, been prescibed meds that lower your libido, both of us are on those kind of drugs and I have suffered chronic pain for 5 years from a drunk driver, 2 back surgeries, now they want to do neck surgery. I'm usually in so much pain that I only get a couple hours of sleep and have to get out of bed. I can't even sleep through a whole night with my husband. How can we get our libido back, he has heart problems in the past and we are scared of the viagra and such. We are not real old, just our bodies. I want to be the woman he married and vice versa. We discuss this, and agree a lot of it is medication, and he's afraid of "breaking me". From the damage of the car accident. Any ideas?
Family bombarded with emailed photos of dead daughter
By: zagameza | 11-12-2007
Nicole Catsouras was killed in a horrific car accident in October 2006. California highway patrol police released the graphic pictures of the accident over the internet (including one of her decapitated head). Pictures are being emailed to the family under the guise of memorials to their daughter or even real estate opportunities (her father is a realtor). Stalkers are sending the family these pictures with messages that say "Daddy I'm still alive."
These are pictures that should not have been released.
The family is thinking of suing police who released pictures of her death through the internet. Do you think they have a claim?
Bloggers/websites who have been asked to remove the pictures from the webiste have said no. Does the family have any legal right to take action against these people?
Ex-Alabama Star Involved in Deadly Car Crash? Who will be punished?
By: muscleguy | 21-11-2007
A van driven by former University of Alabama football star Siran Stacy was struck by a pickup at an intersection and six people were killed, including Stacy's wife and four of his children, state troopers said Tuesday. The driver of the second vehicle also was killed, said Dorris Teague, a spokeswoman for the state troopers.Stacy, 39, a star running back for Alabama during 1989-91, was listed in stable condition in surgical intensive care at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. He was the first pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1992 draft, but never carried the ball in the NFL.State trooper Sgt. Tracy Nelson said the pickup was on the wrong side of the road when it struck Stacy's van on the passenger side late Monday at an intersection on U.S. 84 about six miles west of Dothan."He hit them broadside, T-boned them at the intersection there," said Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd."I've never had anything like that in my life and I've been doing this for 20 years," Byrd said. "The truck that hit the car was on the passenger side and the impact was substantial."Stacy's 3-year-old daughter, Shelly, was taken to Children's Hospital in Birmingham, which did not release her condition.Byrd identified the victims as Stacy's wife, Ellen Stacy, 36; children Lequisa, 18, Bronson, 10, Sidney, 8, and Ellie, 2, all of Newton in southeast Alabama; and pickup driver Adam W. Wayman, 29, of Dothan. My question is this: since the driver who caused the accident was killed, who gets punished for causing the deaths of most of Stacy's family? And if it's found out that the driver was intoxicated on drugs or alcohol, will this change the circumstances of who/what will be given to Stacy's family?
