Almost every existing machine today has a vital need for springs. Springs are one of the most trusted materials when it comes to improving balance, stability, and support. The car is among the many types of machineries that require the use of springs in its operation. With the help of the springs, a vehicle gains the ability to remain stable under harsh road conditions.

One kind of spring used in a vehicle is the coil spring. The coil spring or helical spring is a device used specifically to store energy and to release it when the need arises. It is also used for additional purposes like absorbing shock and keeping the force between contacting surfaces. To fulfill its task efficiently, a coil spring is made of an elastic material in the shape of a helix which goes back to its original length when the stored energy is released.

There are basically two types of coil springs that are used nowadays. One type is the tension coil spring which is especially engineered to withstand stretching. This type usually has a hook at the end which is utilized for attachment. The second type is the compression coil spring which is made to withstand compression. This is usually used in the suspension system of a vehicle. The coil spring actually works in conjunction with the vehicle’s shock absorber to deliver the needed performance. In fact, the coil springs in a vehicle come pre-assembled together with the shock absorber. The coil springs stretch and compress to keep the vehicle stable, while the shock absorber minimizes the effects of vibrations and bumps usually encountered on the road.

A vehicle’s coil springs should be kept at their best condition so that they can continually deliver better handling and ride stability. It is recommended to have them inspected and repaired when signs of wearing out and damage start to surface. For replacement coil spring needs, there are various online shops that offer them at low prices without compromising high quality.
