Summer is the best time to plan an out of town trip. There are loads of activities to do and there is plenty of time to prepare. A checklist of all the needed items in the trip will help you have a smooth journey. But before you hit the road, make sure that you did the summer car maintenance list as well. This will help ensure that you are going to have a hassle free trip.
Weather change has a great impact on your car. If you haven't notice any obvious problem that needs to be attended to, changes in the environment might allow this to surface. It may be too late to deal with it then. So the best thing to do to have your car checked every time there's a major climate change especially during the summer season. Here are some of the things you need to check.
Make sure that your tires are in good shape. Tires should be able to take the toughness of the trip. Replace the tire that needs to be replaced. And regardless if it is new or not, make sure that it has the right inflation level. This will prevent blowouts caused by heat build up in tires that do not have enough air.
Your car's brake is also one of the biggest concerns. It is a significant aspect of a safe trip. Make sure that it is working before you head on. Test if your car has enough stop power. Observe for any strange noise once you hit the brake because this entails that something is wrong with it. If you are having doubts about your brakes, have it checked to ensure that it is in good shape.
Check the seatbelts as well. Make sure that the straps are firmly attached to the seat. Try to adjust and reel it. It should smoothly glide through as you direct it around. When fastened, it should fit in just right after you fasten the latch.
Check your windshield wipers. Most of the time, it needs to be replaced after going through the winter season. Replace it as necessary
Check your headlights. Check all the bulbs and make sure that none of it is busted. It is not safe to drive with a busted bulb. So check your headlights and replace the bulb that is not working.
It is also best to replace your air filter during this time of your year. If you are planning a long trip, make sure that it is not clogged, not only will it use up more energy but it will also reduce your car's mileage.
Check its radiator as well. Radiators are accumulates solid deposits. Check if yours need a radiator flush. It has to be clean in order to perform better. You need it to be cooling your engine the best way it can during a summer trip.
And finally, check your car's battery. Make sure that it is not corroded from the previous season. Check that the cables are properly connected. Checking the battery will eliminate your car's starting problems.
