While the following mission statement and values were found on the Goodwill Industries of Central Iowa website, they clearly define the values of Goodwill Industries in general. It is these strong values that have empowered Goodwill Industries to work so hard and to help the public so effectively over the last century.
The mission statement reads as follows: To empower individuals and families with barriers to independence through training, education and employment.
This is really how Goodwill Industries works it's magic - they provide job training, education and even job placements to those who need help. Rather than handing out money, like some charities do, they help people to earn the money they need and hopefully become self-sufficient In today's increasingly competetive job market, learning new skills and staying ahead of the game is more important than ever.
Goodwill Industries believe in other values too, such as: partnership, respect, advocacy, innovation, stewardship, and ethics.
These are the same values that Rev. Edgar Helms was trying to promote when he set up the charity over one hundred years ago. It's good to know they're still alive and well today as Goodwill Industries tries to live up to these values and instill them in people from all over.

To help them live up to their mission and values, they need your help. The idea started with donations and donations are still the driving force behind Goodwill Industries being able to help people all over the country.
Whether you donate a used car or just a box of old clothes, your contribution will be used to directly and indirectly give people in your community the help and support they need to improve their lives and the lives of their families.
