The auto industry has always been a dynamic one. Innovations after innovations have come up to offer better driving experiences to car owners or to enhance the safety of the vehicles. Recently, another innovation has come to the auto industry in the form of a new brake pad system developed by Federal-Mogul.
According to the manufacturer, the new brake pad system engineered for drivers. Federal-Mogul said that the new brake pad system is designed to give their vehicles the needed stopping power in every driving condition.
The new brake pad system marketed as the Wagner EDGE™ brake pad system, according to its maker, will be available from automotive parts distributor. The said new product will be sold like the brake parts found at Active Brakes Direct. The construction of the Wagner EDGE brake pad system is designed to give it low weight. But for its lightweight construction, the new brake pad system packs a strong stopping power. Silent operation is also a strong selling point for the new brake pad system.
“It’s time for a new level of brake technology that will help automotive service providers keep pace with the changing demands of today’s market,” says Peter Murnen, the global director for friction products of Federal-Mogul. “Wagner EDGE is the industry’s first complete brake pad system, providing shop owners and technicians with a powerful advantage over the original equipment service channel. By relying on EDGE brake pads, shops will be able to grow their share of the increasingly competitive friction category,” he added further.
Federal-Mogul engineers used laser-shaped friction technology to develop a brake pad system as advanced as the Wagner EDGE. The use of the technology allows the engineers to develop a product with a precise interaction between the different components of the brake pad system which are the rotors, brake pads, and the calipers.
The use of laser means that all the components of the brake pad system will perfectly fit its application. With these components fitting its application perfectly, vibration is eliminated which leads to less noise produced during the activation of the brake. According to the manufacturer, the precise interaction of the brake pad system’s components can complement the demand of several types of tires.
“EDGE is grounded in OE engineering and benefits from the most advanced technology available,” says Murnen. “The Wagner brand is pleased to bring this innovative solution exclusively to the aftermarket, where thousands of business owners and repair professionals are looking for the ideal technology for increasingly demanding stop-and-go driving environment and more sophisticated braking systems,” he added further.
The brake pad system is supplied with the patented Integrated Insulating Shim which takes care of the temperature of the brake rotors especially during heavy braking. The said insulating shim facilitates the dissipation of heat of the brake component. Keeping the brake component in its safe operating temperature spells the difference between safety and malfunction.
The Wagner EDGE brake pad system also comes with Silent Guide™ clips as part of its pad installation kit. The presence of this clips and the shim truly makes this new product from Federal-Mogul “The Complete Quiet Solution™” for automotive brake application.
