Paintless dent repair is a new technique for removing small dings and dents from your car. It is perfect for repairing damage made from by the impact from things like a shopping cart left in the parking lot by a customer who was too lazy to put it away, or the dent in your door from the guy who parked too close to you and opened his door into yours, or from the hail that fell during the big storm last night. In all of these cases there is an unsightly dent, but it is still a relatively minor amount of damage and thus is appropriate for this new technique.
Paintless dent repair is a predominately non-invasive method that removes little bumps and dings from your car. It is not appropriate for large amounts of damage, such as that resulting from a car crash or requiring extensive bodywork. Paintless dent removal works on popping the dent back out from the inside of the car (rather than trying to pull it out from the outside) and as such, nothing comes into contact with the painted surface of the car and therefore the paint doesn't need to be retouched (hence the name, "paintless" dent repair).
Specialized training is required in order to be able ot perform this kind of work. Usually, training involves a 2 week course during which the techniques are explained and demonstrated on a variety of automobiles. For someone who is able to do this work, the pay can be rather attractive. The average income per repair is around $100, and a technician may do an average of 3 repairs per day, so that's $300 per day or $1,500 per week.
Paintless dent repair continues to become more popular as more people learn about it and realize that they don't have to pay a lot of money to have traditional bodywork done when it's just a small dent that has to be removed.
