The launching of the Nissan Titan last 2004 marked another milestone for the Japanese automaker. The Nissan Titan was the first Japanese pickup truck to truly challenge the domestics in terms of performance, truck quality, and sheer size. Last year the 2007 Nissan Titan was given new options, better quality Nissan truck parts, additional power, and an even “Texas Titan” package and for this year Nissan is once again presenting another Titan made even better than its other siblings.
For the 2008 model year, the Titan grows even larger with its new long-wheelbase version. The Titan's exterior appearance has been slightly changed to enhance appeal, and a new PRO-4X trim level is also made available. Extended cab (King Cab) and crew cab models are also being offered, with some new colors like and Desert Stone and Timberline.
The exterior features…
Aside from the extra cargo box length for the long-wheelbase models, the appearance of the 2008 Titan is relatively unchanged from its 2007 sibling. Most of the changes are focused on the face of the truck wherein new headlights and a modified grille are placed. The standard wheelbase models can have a 5.5-foot cargo box (crew cab) or a 6.5-foot bed (King Cab), while long-wheelbase models can have a 7-or 8-foot box, respectively.
The PRO-4X trim level gets extra features such as Rancho shocks, a locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, more skid plates, and PRO-4X logos found inside and out. The standard Titan's wheels measure 18 inches in diameter, but 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels are also offered.
The Interior features…
The Titan can accommodate up to six people when the cabin has the standard front bench seat and can seat five with the optional captain's chairs. The second-row seat cushions can be flipped up to provide more cargo room in the cab. The 2008 Titan’s instrument cluster is new, plus there's new seat fabric and an available Bluetooth-based cell phone. The Crew cab models have a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with an 8-inch flip-down screen.
Under the bonnet
All of Nissan’s Titans are powered by 5.6-liter V-8 engine that makes 317 horsepower and 385 pounds-feet of torque. The V-8 drives a five-speed automatic transmission, and has a towing capacity of 9,500 pounds when properly equipped. A no-cost option makes the V-8 capable of running on E85 ethanol in addition to gasoline. Rear- and four-wheel-drive Titan models are also available.
The safety features…
The 2008 Nissan Titan has all-disc antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and front active head restraints which are offered as standard features. Other safety features include power-adjustable pedals, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags which are being offered as part of the optional package.
