The Alfa Romeo 6C was a name that was used on several models of cars that were made and released from 1925 to 1954 by a car company called Alfa Romeo. These cars ranged from race cars to sports cars and the 6C in the name refers to the straight 6 engine that it uses. Coach builders such as James Young, Touring, Zagato, Pininfarina and Castagna were the coachbuilders that made the bodies for these cars. The above was true for most versions of the Alfa Romeo 6C, although in 1933 a version came out that had a factory Alfa body that was built in Portello. Over the course of over four years starting from 1950 to 1954, Alfa Romeo produced the 6C 3000 from a prototype that was first made sometime in 1950.
The Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 was basically an Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, an earlier model, that had a 3-liter engine running inside it. It first formally appeared in 1952 as a vehicle called the Competizione Maggiorata or CM which was built for racing with a 3.5-liter engine. It came in six different versions. All-in-all, the Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 came in four different variants. The four different variants are as follows:
* 6C 3000 (1948) * 6C 3000 50 (1950) * 6C 3000 CM (1952) 275 bhp, 250 km/h (160 mph) ("Competizione Maggiorata" for enlarged displacement) * 6C 3000 PR (1954) ("Passo Ridotto" for shortened wheelbase)
