Jenny McLane is a 36 year old native of Iowa and has a knack for research on cars and anything and everything about it. She works full time as a Market Analyst for one of the leading car parts suppliers in the country today.
In the United States, it has been well known that one of the major causes of death is car crashes and vehicular accidents. And such a situation seems to be also quite applicable even for Americans who are overseas. This is according to a study done by the Campaign for Global Road Safety.
The group has just sent out an analysis of data that they have been able to gather straight right from the State Department. They have been able to take in and analyze information on the leading causes of healthy US citizens who are abroad for business or travel. And the results did show that car crashes and vehicular mishaps is the leader and for every three Americans abroad who meet death, one is involved in a car crash.
The results of the study that the Campaign for Global Road Safety made were released as part of the very first Global Road Safety Week which is spearheaded by the United Nations. The report has been given the title “Road Crash Deaths of American Travelers: The Make Roads Safe Report; An Analysis of US State Department Data on Unnatural Causes of Death to US Citizens Abroad (2004-2006)”. It has also been implied in the study that car crashes still remain number one over other causes like homicides or maybe other types of accidents.
Dr. Bella Dinh-Zarr is the director of the Make Roads Safe for North America and she also is the author of this recently released report. On the results of the study, she remarks, “When we travel, we protect ourselves with vaccines and we’re careful about what we eat and drink, but the real hidden danger is being killed on the road.” And this may not be because foreign vehicles may not use the Centerforce clutch or other parts but may be because of the attitude of all drivers and motorists when they are on the road.
Dinh-Zarr does continue to express, “The death of Americans on roads overseas is just one symptom of the road crash epidemic around the world. This is a public health, transportation, and human rights issue. And we’re not just talking about numbers - each death and injury has a devastating effect on a family so we need to act now or millions will suffer.”
