Vw's Touran Perfect for Huge Families

Having a huge family doesn’t have to be a drag especially when traveling. Volkswagen is offering an MPV that is just perfect for big families. The Volkswagen Touran is a compact MPV which is within the range of VW Sharan and the Caravelle.

Most of the buyers of Touran are with children and usually choose the standard seven-seat version with two retractable rear seats that neatly folds down to the floor when not in used. Aside from the seven-seater there is also a five-seater model.

The Touran has a maximum luggage capacity of 1,989 liters of luggage space and has a versatile seating arrangement that can accommodate long and bulky items. It also provides 35 storage sections which is perfect for a growing family.

The Volkswagen Touran MPV is not for those who are searching for speed its 2.0 liter 140 PS diesel engine is lacking in horsepower and can reach 0 to 62 mph in 10.3 secs and just happy trotting along at a steady pace. But at least you are assured that your family is safe since you are traveling at a speed that is just right for your family. The Touran is equipped with a diesel engine that provides better atomization of the fuel for high torque and power, low emissions and better fuel economy.

The Touran has a combined fuel consumption of 43.5 mpg one of the reasons why only over 11,500 Tourans were sold in the year 2006. In the UK, 87 percent of the Touran sales were attributed to diesel engines.

In the compact MPV class, Touran competes with direct rivals such as the Renault Scenic and Vauxhall Zafira. And unlike some MPVs, the Touran is boxy but drives and feels like a well loved car which is not surprising since it’s a product of Volkswagen—Europe’s largest automaker and producer of high quality VW Jetta parts.

The Volkswagen Touran has everything that a family would need both externally and internally although it’s not that fashionable but of course when you have a family aesthetic is least of your priority what matter most is functionality which the Touran is full of.

However what it lacks in looks is supplemented in other areas like for example its DVD rear seat entertainment which comes with adapters for video games and a 6.5 inch color LCD screen which folds down from a unit in the roof lining complete with two sets of headphones and infrared remote control which are perfect for keeping the kids busy especially on long journeys.
