Wax On Or Wax Off?

The car paint is the most basic aesthetic characteristic your car possesses. Having a clean, smooth mirror finish makes that stock car look fresh and new all the time. In order to achieve all these finish, one must posses all the right cleaning equipment, polishes and waxes.

Since one of the most expensive things you can do to your car is to have it repainted protection for it is a must have. Applying wax to one's car can serve many purposes, but its main use is for protection. Most of the time cars are exposed to extreme weather conditions which spell rapid material and paint deterioration.

Nowadays there are many ways of protecting your car, especially if you have a sports car that would cost you big bucks. These technological breakthroughs cover from the very simple do it yourself application to the highly technical protective coatings. Just recently a laboratory in Europe launched a spray on application for car exterior that is based on nano technology. It repels water by abolishing surface tension between the water and the paint surface. Cleaning all that mud is just as easy as spraying the car with water so you get an instant body wash. This technology though doesn't come cheap. The fee for having a coating like this is just like buying a compact car.

The most typical paint care application is the tried and tested waxing. Waxing may be time and labor intensive, but so far this is the cheapest and most efficient method. Car waxes function as a protective film between the elements and the last coating of the paint layer. If you regularly apply a wax to your car, you may not worry too much on light scratches since this is most likely just a scratch on the protective layer which is the wax. Some waxes may even enhance the car color; especially those which are made from the sap of a certain tree in Brazil that can help bring out the richness and the depth of the color tone.

Wax application may sound simple and easy but this can be a tedious task. There are a lot of motorized electric wax applicators in do it yourself shops. But do read the manual and instructions on how to use these equipments. Doing a wax application in a wrong manner may damage the paint permanently or using the motorized wax applicator can cause excessive friction and burn the car paint.
