With Pontiac and Saturn Out of the Game, Who Competes with Porsche?

Posted: Dec 04, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

The end of Pontiac and Saturn has been all the talk in the automobile market, with even talk of the end of SAAB, but the end of 2010 definitely concludes the life of Saturn and Pontiac for now. This leaves Porsche without competition according to engine standards, and leaves many car enthusiasts wondering just who will take the place of the Pontiac engine and Saturn engine when it comes to competing with the Porsche engine. The million dollar question has many wondering, with many possibilities for attempts, but not many that will successfully overcome the power and performance of the Porsche engine.

Understanding the Old Competition

The Pontiac engine and the Saturn engine have for quite some time been the main competitors of the Porsche's high performing engine, offering not as much class and luxury, but a significant amount of performance and overall power. Depending on the actual model, there were many competing factors between the more modest vehicles and the high class, very high priced Porsche. As the economy took a downturn, Saturn and Pontiac didn't fair to well as the Porsche engine was able to last through the recession and bail out to come out still a winner in many car lovers' eyes.

Although the Pontiac engine and the Saturn engine don't seem as if they would do very well in competing with the Porsche engine, there are some competing factors that are actually present. There are various vehicles for each manufacturer, offering several different versions of the engines, and many different types of engines used, especially as the economy molded gas economy as a higher priority and performance a bit lower than overall efficiency.

Pontiac released several sports vehicles, as well as more practical use vehicles, with the Pontiac engine offering a high performance for a smaller price. Saturn also released several different models, with the Saturn engine known for reliability and high performance in many different vehicles, yet focusing more on the efficiency of the vehicle use.

The Power and Performance of Porsche

The Porsche engine is one of sheer power and performance with a great emphasis on high speed and excellent handling through the entire vehicle's design. Comparing to the Saturn engine and Pontiac engine seems a bit odd for some, but can be credited to the high performance of both engines, as well as the dependability of the engines as well. Porsche is lucky enough to continue as a top performer in the automobile industry, so who could possibly compete with the Porsche now?

Finding a true competitor for the Porsche engine will be quite like finding the connection and comparative value with the Saturn engine and the Pontiac engine, encompassing consideration for speed, performance, reliability, and life of the engine as well.
