Babies grow so quickly that it’s hard to keep up with them sometimes. You need to cut the spending habit down, but your baby needs clothes. It’s a dilemma many parents are faced with. You have to make the most out of the clothes your baby already has. 
 
You can start by purchasing a sewing machine. This doesn’t need to be fancy. It needs to do a little hemming and sewing and you have everything you need to turn your baby’s old clothes into new designer duds. 
 
Let’s start with jeans. This one is easy because just think of what you have done with your old jeans. If your baby is getting too tall, just cut off the legs and make shorts out of them. This is simple and easy and doesn’t require anything more than a scissor. You can also let the seam out of the bottom of the pants to make them a little longer. If this doesn’t work, you can add materials to the bottom of pants or skirts using the sewing machine. 
 
Onesies are good items to convert. Once those snaps stop reaching each other, usually it means good bye for the onesie and on to the next size. Not so fast. Take out that trusty scissor again and cut off the leg portion of the onesie. You have a brand new t-shirt for you baby and don’t have to buy many new summer clothes. The bottom of the shirt can be rolled up and will hang loosely on the baby. There is no need to worry about loose strings because the material stays intact well. 
 
If overalls or other snapping type clothing or getting too small, sew a few buttons to make the clothing stretch a little. By doing this you could probably get another few months out of the clothes. 
 
When buying socks, stick to solid colors. White works well because if you lose the left sock (the left one always gets lost), you will still be able to use the right sock. There is no need to throw a pair of socks away because you can’t find one of them. Also buy socks that don’t have a built-in heel. This will make the sock grow with your baby’s foot for a little while before having to get one that fits perfectly. 
 
Even shoes of a have a way of staying a little longer than they were intended. If your baby has canvas sneakers or shoes, once they start getting snug, you can cut out of the back of the shoe making a mule. This won’t work well with babies learning to walk because they can trip on the shoe. However, for your baby that stays snuggled in the stroller, mules will look adorable. 
 
In the end, once those clothes don’t fit anymore, you can either save them for another child, hand them down to a relative or give them away to charity. However, there are other practical uses. You can also use old onesies or t-shirts and turn them into rags.
