Bizarre Tips For Potty Training A Boy That Really Work

Posted: Jul 18, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Have you ever heard the saying "boys will be boys"?  Parents of toddlers can totally relate, especially when it comes to potty training a boy.  This can be very frustrating causing many parents to spend mucho time and money to solve this mystery.  Since you are reading this article, chances are either you or someone you know is experiencing this exact same thing.  I've included a link at the end of this article to a helpful website that will provide alot of answers for you as well, so be sure to clink on that link below.

Let me first say that this is a common problem and it's not anyone's fault.  It's not that the parents are doing anything wrong, nor is the child to blame either.  Eventhough the average age for potty training is 18 months, each child is special, unique and they learn at different paces.  And we all know that boys learn at a slower pace than girls, right?  So 18 months is just that, an average, not a rule.

My sister is going through this exact problem and it is very frustrating for her and her husband (and I'm sure her son isn't having much fun either).  So I did some research and talked with quite a few moms in the area, and summarized some helpful tips below for potty training a boy:

#1 Know your son - Know what works for him, like rewarding him when he does something good, or making a game out of learning opportunities (like potty training), etc.

#2 Make sure you have the time for potty training.  If you are starting a new job or a new house project, that may not be the best time to start this.  It takes a commitment on your part.

#3 Most importantly, be consistent.  Do things like put your son on the toilet before taking a bath, before bed time and first thing every morning.  Do this every time so it becomes a habit, like taking a nap.  A word of caution, any disruptions to this established routine (i.e. going on a vacation, or moving) can send any progress in a tail spin and you might have to start all over again.

Apparently I had potty training issues, because my parents thought I was going to start kindergarten with a diaper under my arm.  Luckily, I mastered this technique before then.  So keep in mind, every child is different and they learn at different paces. So be patient and remember potty training a boy is one of the many wonderful experiences you will have with your child as he grows up.

Dog training is really more about people training. Some dog trainers and experts do understand this and base their training on us being part of the pack as pack leader. Humans often need to learn to fit into the role of pack leader by learning how to live with more calm assertive energy because our energy is typically reflected in our dogs behavior.

Back when I started with my Goldendoodles in 1999, many people here in the United States had never heard of them. "What is a Goldendoodle?", they'd ask. Even though the truck I drove had photos of a Goldendoodle all over it. My husband and I would have to explain to everyone that a Goldendoodle was exactly as what was visually seen on our truck. Many years has passed since I first began creating Goldendoodles. Yes, I said create. I had to first create them in order to breed them.
