One of the jobs that most teenagers decide to try out while in high school is that of baby sitting. Not only is it a fun, rewarding job, it also helps you earn some extra spending money so that you can see extra movies in the theaters or finally purchase that pair of shoes you have wanted for weeks. Being a great babysitter is not something that everyone can do; it takes a person who is both mature and fun loving to achieve the title of \"Most Sought After Babysitter\" in the neighborhood. The trick is pleasing both the parents and the children. You have to prove to the parents that you are a responsible individual who will stay calm and clear-headed should a problem arise; however, you have to make sure the kids know that you are there to spend time with them and have some fun. One way to achieve both goals is to bring some baby sitting games with you!
Parents love to see that you are prepared and the kids look forward to finding out what activities you have planned for the evening. When you are putting together your activity bag, you need to make sure that the games you have are both age appropriate and safe! A three-year-old would love playing with play-dough but would probably be bored to tears if you decided to read \"A Tale of Two Cities\" aloud to him. Always tell the parents about your planned activities especially if they might be messy; as long as you have their approval, everyone will have a great time.
Books and videos are always non-messy ways to have a fun time. For younger children, sing-along videos and books with pictures are wonderful ways to have an interactive learning experience. Coloring books and making play-dough (you can find several recipes online) are also incredibly fun. You will even enjoy acting like a kid again! For school age kids, bring over fun board games or a deck of cards. Anything that involves healthy competition is something that every kid will enjoy.
Baby sitting jobs can be hard work but as long as you arrive prepared, everything will go extremely well. Have fun!
