Choosing a Stroller

Posted: Jul 23, 2009 |

Ahh, a stroller, what a easy life it would make! Anyone with a baby or a toddler knows that a stroller can make life easier. Plenty of places for stuff, no more baby riding Mom's hip, and hands free. A stroller, what a life! Parents often consider choosing a mid-sized stroller or a full-sized stroller because those stroller types are the two work-horses' of the baby hauling world. They are comfortable for both the baby and the person pushing. They have lots of storage for all the baby things. They are sturdy and can last through more than one child. Some even have a standing platform for the older child. While their features re similar, there are differences. Full-sized strollers have it all. They are comfortable, for both the pushee (baby) and pusher (parent). The prices can vary greatly depending on the features offered. They are from "not so bad" at $150 to the "WOW!" category at $600 plus. However, the full-sized strollers' bells and whistles can be well worth it as the seats can be fully adjustable with lots of position settings that allow the little prince or princess to be at a full sit one second and a full recline the next. They have suspension that reduces the bumps from uneven ground. They have heavy-duty frames and wheels.

Most full-sized strollers have adjustable handles that provide pushing ease for any size person. These full-sized strollers offer wonderful comfort for the long shopping trip or the day at the zoo. In some full-sized strollers the baby can face either forward or toward the pushing parent, usually because of a reversible handle. Parents often enjoy watching their baby's face so they choose a full-sized stroller that is designed for the baby to face them. These full-sized strollers have sun-shades and extra storage spaces, but they tend to heavier and more bulky than the mid-sized strollers. Mid-sized strollers have most of the advantages of the full-sized stroller, but are usually lighter and tend to be priced in the "not so bad range" of $150 to $300. The mid-sized strollers have some seat padding, but are not nearly as fluffy as the full-sized versions. Their seats are adjustable, but usually not as many settings as the pricier models.

Some mid-sized strollers do have forward and backward facing settings so that you can see your baby, but you have to look particularly for this feature. While the mid-sized stroller is not as luxurious as the full-sized stroller, parents really like the mid-sized strollers for its ease of folding and compact size. Lot's to consider when looking for the perfect stroller, but it is out there. Mid-sized stroller or full-sized stroller, you will find a stroller that will help ease your life. Full-sized strollers and mid-sized strollers are the work-horse of the stroller world. They are much the same, but vitally different. This article is a summary of the highlights of the similarities and variations to be aware of when considering either at full-sized stroller or mid-sized stroller.
