Choosing The Right Crib For Your New Bundle Of Joy

Posted: Jan 29, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

When the time comes to buy your baby a crib, I am quite sure you will have thoughts running through your head about your baby sleeping. I am pretty sure you only want to buy a crib once and have it last for years to come. I recomend shopping around online and reading some user reviews to find out how satisfied others who have bought the crib are. You may want to consider a convertible crib that is designed for use in four stages, (crib, toddler, daybed and full bed). The kind of crib that is made to grow right along with your child is called a called a convertible crib. Having a multiple level mattress adjustment is standard on many convertible cribs. This makes it super easy to adjust the mattress down as your baby gets grows into a fiesty toddler and wants to try to crawl out of the crib.

Safety Should be Your #1 Priority

Choosing a crib the meets all U.S. safety standards for assembly is absolutly critical in the crib buying decision. I recomend a crib with no movable parts, with a static rail system that does not drop or slide as your baby reaches the toddler stage. It just makes them fall apart quicker and is simply not very safe. Not only does having a crib with no moving parts make for a safer environment for your child, it also adds to the longevity of the crib.

Green Crib?

An eco-friendly approach to design and manufacture may also be of importance to you. Consider a crib made from woods that are harvested from sustainable areas as well as non-toxic finishes free of formaldehyde.

Balancing Quality vs. Price

Do not buy a "cheap" crib... let me repeat that, do NOT buy a cheap crib with questionable standards in manufacture process or you will likely regret it a few months after bringing it home (if not the moment you try to assmble it). Consider your crib purchase as an investment in your childs future well being and the decision to spend a little more becomes less of a conern. Spending a little bit more now will certainly save you alot of money in the long run.
