Dear Mother
Thought writing this poem from a child's point of view would deal with both the perspectives.Hope you like it!
Dear Mother, I remembered u today Your memories came by, floating, like withered leaves on a breezy day Amidst the aimless rush, the hustle of what we know as life A searing realization dawned upon me, like a wound inflicted by a slashing knife I felt pounded by deep regret, to think how could I forget The origin of my existence, my creator, that I didn't remember you yet! How could I forget, you made my transition possible, from foetus to man And gave me a life to cherish, made me believe I can Oh Mother, as a child, when you took me in your arms And cast your blessings upon me, the power of a thousand psalms The amazing woman that you were, I had to fall in love Your unsurpassed affection, it was like manna from the heavens above Your love, squeezing out my gurgle, an innocent laughter Embraced my heart, forged a bond, immediate & forever Yet, how could I be so cruel, so churlish So caught up in my own illusions, paying no heed,even to your simplest wish? Yes, there was a time when I foolishly rebelled Seeking a strange pleasure in seeing your dreams quelled All of a sudden you were passé, your lingo was uncool I refused to acknowledge you, was there ever a greater fool? I walked the wild side, only to push you away I made friends, new and fast, but you never could have your say Stone-deaf I was, my own narrow spaces I lived in Did I hear you not, or was it a deliberate act, ignoring your sane voice in the mad din? Then the quirks of fate happened, dark days fell upon me, My friends soon left, on my side they just wouldn't be I was the sinking ship, like rats they were deserting To Continue
