Insights into Crying Babies

Hearing crying babies can be upsetting, especially if you cannot figure out the reason for the tears and screaming. New moms especially fall victim to the anxiety and panic that comes with caring for crying babies. Though it may seem a daunting task to hush a particularly grumpy or miserable baby, knowing the reasons for the cries can make things just a little bit easier. Here are some reasons:

Hunger
Your baby’s most basic need is to feed. The best way he can get you to notice that he is feeling hungry is to cry. If your baby has a regular feeding schedule, it will not be tough to figure out that it is time for his milk.

Wet or soiled diapers

If your baby has soiled his diapers, he will not be comfortable at all. He will let you know that it is time for a diaper change. There are babies who eventually grow up not fussing too much even when their diapers are soiled. It is best to keep on checking your baby’s nappy anyway.

Uncomfortable temperature
You may hear your baby whimper because of temperature that is either too hot or too cold. Your baby will most likely cry during cold weather so take care to keep him warm at night. You also have to make sure that your baby is not too hot because he is not yet able to regulate his own temperature.

Bored
Play with baby during his wakeful hours. He will cry when he gets bored. If you have not provided him with enough activity, he may complain about it.

Illness
If you have tried responding to your baby’s cries with the above reasons in consideration but he has not yet stopped crying, have him checked by a pediatrician.
