Is Bisphenol A Safe?: BPA and Baby Bottles Safety

Bisphenol A, also widely known as BPA, is used as primary material for making plastic products and was included in the making of baby bottles. This organic substance has been known to be dangerous to humans since exposure to BPA may cause severe health problems and other issues. From decreased maternal behaviors to cancer-prone breast cells, recent scientific study has proven that BPA can cause severe and permanent changes to genital health.

The threat to baby bottle safety became renowned to many parts of the world when its dangers were first published in 2008. BPA was then considerably linked to heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Alarmed nursing mothers went back to glass baby bottle usage and some even stopped bottle feeding. The convenience of plastic nursing bottles was overshadowed by this medical threat that called on for authorities for proper action. Plastic manufacturers were stopped from using the chemical. Yet with the wide use of plastic for many infant materials including snippy caps and pacifiers, most health advocates have advised users not to avoid using dishwasher, harsh detergents and leaching for BPA baby bottles. Although most parents have decided to get rid of these bottles, some wouldn’t even know which plastic bottle is safe and which is not.

The confusion regarding health security has brought about many researches and studies regarding the effects of BPA. Most experts say that BPA can only be dangerous when taken in full large quantities. To further the clarity of BPA effects, certain studies have shown in what quantities are BPAs dangerous or safe. It has been reiterated that a tolerable daily intake (TDI) of BPA will take an infant more than four full bottles of milk before reaching TDI.

In some instances, confused mothers have resorted to glass baby bottles as substitute for BPA baby bottles.  They have opted for bottles that easily break; bottles that crack when cooled or heated and later on complain about laceration and wound when feeding their babies. More and more experts believe that BPA does not transfer from the bottle to the milk which mothers fear about. Moreover, it has been brought out that even when baby bottles are subject to high temperature especially in the process of sterilization; BPA migrates to the water 4000 times smaller than what has been considered the safe quantity.

Baby bottle safety is the greatest concern when talking about BPA. Fears, confusion and disgust over plastic nursing materials have thrown into doom the usage of plastic baby bottles. The real score in this dilemma is that consumers must be able to understand that the universe offer a lot of dangers and all man is left to do is to take in everything in moderation. Everything good when taken in excess is bad. BPA is not at all dangerous considering that it has been designated a point of tolerable daily intake. Like any other substances when abused, PA will surely bring about harm.

It takes moderation and control to ensure baby bottle safety. The security of your babies depends in how you handle feeding and nurturing.
