Quinny Buggies - Fashion Fad?

Quinny buggies have been really popular for the last couple of years and popularised the 3 wheel pushchair. But do Quinny strollers live up to the hype, or are they all about appearances? Everywhere you go there seems to be a Quinny pram pounding the pavements and you can't deny they're distinctive, with their bold styling and chunky design, but is there quality and functionality behind the looks?

Well the Quinny brand certainly comes from good pedigree. It's part of the Dorel Group whose other brands include Maxi Cosi and Bebeconfort, both well known and respected brands in their own right. There's no doubt their distinctive appearance does have some initial appeal. With their unique moulded seat units, coming in a bright and bold choice of colours, chunky wheels and minimalist, bold frames Quinny models definitely stand out from the crowd.

So, beyond aesthetics what do their pushchairs have to offer? Well, their lightweight and sleek chassis designs are tough and well designed as well as being eye catching. Their range of pushchairs also have some great design features that make them ultra-practical and functional. From the automatic folding mechanism of the Buzz; to the Zapp, which is the most compact folding buggy in the world, their buggies are truly designed for everyday life.

Equally, utilising some of the best features of a three wheel pushchair and adapting them for an urban stroller has its advantages. The large, pneumatic tyres give an exceptionally smooth and bump-free ride and whilst they were originally intended for use off road, pneumatic tyres do make for a comfortable ride and great manoeuvrability on-road too. Having said that, pneumatic tyres do require maintenance and a prone to punctures, which can be inconvenient, so aren‘t for everyone.

Each Quinny pram also comes with a generous set of accessories included in the purchase price, unlike many other prams and pushchairs . Although the car seat and carrycot (for the Buzz) are additional purchases each pushchair comes with a sun canopy, rain cover and travel system adaptors, to allow you to attach your car seat. The Buzz pushchair even comes with an extra, larger seat unit, so your buggy can grow comfortably with your child, seeing you through from birth right up to 3 or 4 years.

All in all Quinny buggies are truly modern pushchairs - stylish and functional in equal measure, with intelligent design features. And whilst their distinctive looks are definitely one of their strongest assets, without solid design Quinny strollers would not have been able to maintain their popularity.
