My Personal Review On Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite Convertible Car Seat

Looking back seat of the car - you can install that looking back! Well .... so all these comments make it seem impossible to install rear facing. However, I am here to tell you it is not.

First, let me tell you my little history of installation! My first attempt to install the Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite rear-facing seat in my 2004 Mazda 3 with the LATCH system. I followed the instructions to the letter and also used a normal sized towel roll under it. I was there pretty good, but I asked my husband to take a look to see if I could get a little tighter, and it seemed to move slightly from side to side. The two agreed that it was a little loose and there were still some open space under the seat of the car, causing additional leeway for the car seat to move. Also, I could not get the darn thing level and adjusted at the same time.

We took a break from my car and my husband started working on installing the car seat himself in his 2003 GMC truck, again with the LATCH system. (We bought two identical seats.) He used a towel underneath, but could not possibly reach the ground level and set at the same time! As I got stronger seat, the seat continued to move up to a sitting position and not tilted. In fact, he pulled the straps so tight, we could not get the darn thing off right! The locking mechanism locks if you pull too tight. Thank God we get a towel underneath and separated from the base of the car seat (although it is already installed on the truck), which gave us enough space to disengage the seal seat of the collection of hooks.

So after about an hour or more messing around with the car seat and cursing a storm, we decided to take a break and I did some research online. I found a video on the Safety 1st web site about installing a back seat in front and I also checked the comments of several to see if anyone had advice.

After watching the video, reading the instructions several times and reading several reviews, I decided to tackle again. First, *** I removed the base of the car seat *** and used a rolled leaf bath (a bath towel size similar to that used in the video) to put under the car seat. The secret is to remove the base! Does not affect security at all and allows a much better shape when you look back! ! It took me all of 5 minutes to obtain a guaranteed seat facing the rear in my Mazda 3. And the bath towel, basically just fills the open space right below the bottom of the car seat. The seat really does not sit on the towel at all. I did like the sample video and a secure fit. Another secret I learned from another review is to put the knee on the seat of the car when the child feels and push down hard on top of the chair by pulling the straps tight. This will help keep it level with the floor as you are pulling hard.

I recommend watching the video and wait. It was a heck of a lot easier than originally thought and all he did was for me happened for a while and return to it. Five minutes, literally, to install this thing without the base attached. Give it a try! This car seat is worth it and is very sure of my 10 months old!
