Snack Ideas For Kids When Biking

Posted: Feb 06, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

If your children enjoys cycling on their kids bicycles or riding their balance bikes or bikes without pedals, then you're probably a snack machine. One of the best ways to keep children going (while they cycle or ride their children bike) is to prepare and offer them delicious and healthy snacks to keep their energy and spirits up. We discuss a couple of favourite snack ideas to pack for your child when going on picnic.

Assorted Muffins: Muffins can be made savoury or sweet (or both). The best is to bake small muffins with an assortment of fillings. Don't keep the muffins bland. You can make feta and bacon muffins for a savoury muffin. You can also make a cherry and cashew nut muffin for the sweet alternative. The fantastic things about muffins is that once you find a basic recipe you can put almost anything into them (whatever you have lying around the house).

Sliced Vegetables & Dip: Children love dips. Children don't love vegetables too much. However, if you combine vegetables and dip – you finally can have a success story. Make a dip, such as hummus or a store bought variety, and cut an assortment of vegetables for your children.

Sandwiches: Find some wholewheat bread and put on your child's favourite toppings. Kids on bicycles absolutely love to devour these as they're quick and yummy to eat (meaning they can get on their bicycles quicker). If you want to make it a treat for your child, take off the crust. Also make sure that you pack each sandwich individually so that they don't get soggy.

Dried Fruit & Nuts: One of the best and easiest snacks you can prepare is dried fruits and nuts. Just purchase an assortment of dried fruit (or make your own) and put them into a packet for your children. This is perfect for children when cycling on their kids bicycles or children bike a little distance from home.

Now that you have these brilliant snack ideas for kids on bicycles, you don't have any excuse. Make sure that you have all the ingredients handy before deciding what to make. Also give your children a choice of what they would like to eat for a snack (as long as it's healthy and delicious). Kids on bicycles love snacks because they can eat once they've used up all of their energy cycling away.
