Traditionally, a models portfolio is a veritable resume of the models work and past achievements mixed in with some standard photographs that capture the main characteristics of the potential model. This is an absolute must in the usual modeling industry as it provides photographers, clients and agencies a glimpse of how they could work with the model and whether they will fit a certain campaign.
Due to this reason I recommend that rather than spending any cash to bring together a model book/baby model portfolio that will be useless in four months time you should take your time and resources to get about three to five good quality pictures that you can give to an agent.
The images can be taken at home or professionally, but remember that you’ll quite likely need to update any snapshots in six months time so outlay any money well. Regardless, you’ll need to make sure that you get a representative group of pictures. Try to include:
A head and shoulders picture, a full length shot, and a shot that shows some real personality. On top of this the photographs are best if they are taken in various locations and in various costumes or outfits to suit the venue.
These are all simple steps to take and can be done on your own camera. Plus with the advantage of digital you can take large numbers of photographs if you wish and simply go for the perfect few that depict your infant in the best possible light. Just remember to limit yourself to about three to five images as too many will distract the viewer and will not be helpful.
