The Most Important Items to Include in Your Baby Registry

Posted: Mar 28, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Completing a registry can be overwhelming. After all, there are so many items, how can you possibly remember to add everything. It can be especially challenging with all the choices. However, don't feel overwhelmed, stores have made it a lot simpiler for you to register. Many stores offer online registry, in-store assistance, and have even invented the traveling scanner that allows you to easily scan the barcode of anything in the store and instantly add the item to your registry. So let's get started.

Begin by making a list of all the necessities, then add in any additional items. It is almost certain that people will automatically buy clothes, so try to stick to the basics: onesies, sleepers, socks, booties, and bibs. If you need help generating ideas there are many baby buying guides online that can help the process.

The Most Important Items to Include in Your Baby Registry are as follows:

1. Basic clothing, as mentioned above

2. Designer baby bedding, if you have certain colors picked out for your nursery, it is important to match those colors to the bedding you pick out. If you put a specific bedding set on your registry, you don't have to worry about someone getting colors that don't match.

3. Burp Cloths/Baby Bottles, the burp clothes have multiple uses, and bottles are a must.

4. Hooded Towels/Baby Washcloths, the hooded towels are nice for swaddling the baby and cover's the baby's head, and the softer/gentler the washcloths the better.

5. A Nail Clipper set, a must for keeping the baby's nails neatly trimmed.

6. Diapers/Wipes, you can go either with the cloth or disposable options here. There are pros/cons to both, but somthing to factor into comparing cost/ease is that a newborn will dirty on average 10 diapers per day.

7. Diaper bag, with this you want to make sure that it comes with a waterproof changing pad.

These are the most important items to include in your registry, but I didn't include the big items. Again, if you are looking for some help with items to include, do a search for "baby buying guide" online.

Last, but not least, make sure if you are registering at more than one store you don't have any items that overlap. I hope you find this list helpful. Leave in the comments any things you think should be added to the list.
