Approaching Your Group About a Baseball Fundraiser

Approaching your group with a fundraiser can be a difficult task.  Most people do not like fundraising because they do not understand the value of the fundraiser.  Baseball teams, especially, need to raise money in order to compete.  Today, baseball can be a very expensive sport to play.  With the costs of Gloves, Bats, Uniforms and league Expenses what they are now, fundraising can be a great way to alleviate some of the costs associated.

When approaching the group, you will want to keep a few things in mind.

•    Be Positive.  Make sure you have an upbeat attitude when approaching the players.  If you are not confident in the fundraiser, they will not be either.

•    Be Excited.  You will want to make sure it is something that they will want to participate in.  Be sure to tell about the prizes the players could earn and show them examples if possible.  Most fundraisers offer a prize program.  If they do not, make one up for your group.

•    Explain the purpose and potential.  This is more for the parents.  If the parents realize their family can sell a few items and their child gets to play for free, they will be very interested in participating.  Make sure they know the more they sell, the less it will cost.  If you have the parents, the child will be interested too.

•    Explain the program in a way that makes it interesting for the kids too.  Make sure to reiterate the prize programs for the child.  They only need to know the basics in order to sell.  If it is too complicated to them, they will not be interested.

Take your time if you are new to fundraising.  It can be difficult at first.  Make sure you have a good relationship with your fundraising company.  They should be able to help you throughout your fundraising process.

Many fundraising distributors have even stopped offering candy bars to fundraising groups. They've done that because of the lack of profit margin available in the candy fundraising sector.
