Baseball Hitting Tips

Hitting for power in baseball can be executed by anybody. It does not necessisarily require a large, strong player. Reasearch has demonstrated that power does not come just from the over all size of the batter. It comes from the power of his hands.

If you desire to hit for more distance, you really don't need to work on a stronger physique, but rather stronger hands. The ability to work with the entire body is likewise crucial. Little players can smack the ball like bigger batters if they incorporate body motion in their swings. This tells us they've been taught make use of their hips to start with, and hands and wrists last, and using a highly effective snapping motion.

It's crucial that the batter develops a speedy pivot and speedy hands.

Quite a few young players do not ever develop power because they are told to just “meet the ball.” It's a widespread phrase in baseball. Due to this fact, many batters stop their hands when they connect with the ball and they do not ever hit through the ball.

A batter should be aggressive. Hitting is controlled aggression, while retaining balance and control.

One more challenge young players have comes from watching baseball on television. They watch a big hitter like Mark McGuire let his top hand go too soon. You know what. You aren't Mark McGuire. My suggestion is to follow through with both hands on the bat. This may further involve hitting through the ball.

Add to this the problem that a lot of hitters are trained that they should hit a baseball by having their hands out over the plate when they contact the ball. Sometimes this is the result of being shown incorrectly to get extension over the plate. Extension shuld not occur on contact, but instead immediately after ball contact. When batters try to extend on impact, it is like sawing wood, applying too much arms and shoulders. This approach will not power the ball.

So as to learn the way to hit for power in baseball the hitter has to have his hands out in front of his body to make contact with the ball, with the upper hand over the bat, and the bottom hand under the bat. The top hand is then like a hammer on contact.

Making use of the hands like this may boost bat velocity no less than 30-40% more than the arm swing.

Hitting for power in baseball comes from :

1. A powerful body
2. Fast hips
3. Especially quick hands and wrists, out front on contact with the ball
4. Follow through the ball with both hands
5. Be aggressive

While I am still a casual fan of Major League Baseball, I am not anything close to the baseball fanatic that I once used to be. When I was growing up, baseball was king, but not so much now. I recently did a little introspection to try to determine why this is the case. When I did, I was able to come up with ten reasons for my diminished interest in baseball.
