Essential Softball Gear That You Need

Posted: Jan 10, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

One of the most obvious things that you will instantly notice about softball is that it is gear-intensive. Unlike running, for example, where you only need a pair of shoes, softball requires you to have shoes, gloves, and maybe even your own softball bat.

The good thing is that most softball teams already provide the softball gear to their players. In that case, you no longer need to worry about where to get your gear, and also the money to buy them. However, there are also times when your needs as a softball player grows. As you mature, you'll realize that your requirements for a softball bat, for example, are getting more and more specific.

Is this because of vanity? Hardly. It's just that you want the right gear that will help you take your game to the next level. But at this stage, you're still quite unsure about the type of gear that you need. So, before you bust your wallet, it would probably be better if you invest your money on the essential softball gear first. What are they? Read on for more below.

1.Softball shoes. Alright, here's a no-brainer. But just in case you need a recommendation, then we'd say that you start with your softball shoes. Not only is sharing shoes with others unhygienic, it could also force to pay performance penalties on the field. Why? Because a pair of shoes not specific to your size could affect your stride and your speed. So get your own shoes, please.

2.Softball gloves. Most teams already have softball gloves, but if you want one that fits your hand well, then go buy one for yourself. You will notice the difference it makes since you will be able to catch the ball better if you're comfortable with the gloves that you're using. And, then, of course, the issue of hygiene comes up again. Would you really like to wear gloves that smell of sweaty leather? What's worse is that you're not sure about who's the last person who used that glove!

3.Softball bat. If you are really specific about the type of gear that you need, then you'll also want to have your own softball bat. The bats that your team uses are meant to be used by everyone, meaning that there's little consideration made on their impact on the player who uses them. That is why when you choose your own bat, you get to use one that's just right for you in terms of weight and length. And with the right bat, you will be able to swing harder and hit the ball better.

So there you have it. The next time you are shopping for softball gear, then we recommend that you start with the essentials first, the one that we discussed above. Start out with the essentials first such as softball shoes, softball gloves and bat, then work your way from there. And see for yourself how much they can help you improve your game further.

While I am still a casual fan of Major League Baseball, I am not anything close to the baseball fanatic that I once used to be. When I was growing up, baseball was king, but not so much now. I recently did a little introspection to try to determine why this is the case. When I did, I was able to come up with ten reasons for my diminished interest in baseball.

It appears that Major League Baseball is getting more and more like the National Hockey League (NHL), in which there is absolutely no correlation between its regular season and the outcome of its postseason. In other words, baseball's regular season is becoming almost completely irrelevant.

Are you aware that many slowpitch bats are built with two pieces? It is simpler to manufacture them that way, but that doesn't translate to higher quality for people who are utilizing them.
