Are the Atlanta Hawks pace setters

51 years have passed since the Atlanta Hawks won their first and only NBA championship title. Since it was formed, the team has changed its name five teams. They are currently based in Atlanta Georgia where they host their opponents in the Philips Arena. In 1996 the city of Atlanta Georgia got worldwide attention when they hosted the Olympic games. Ever since, the city has never managed to make any major headlines in the sporting scene, that was poised to remain as so until recently when everything changed.

Last week’s exquisite winning performances by the Hawks against the Celtics and the Hornets have made Atlanta Georgia capture the center circle’s, NBA limelight. It’s something worth noting that the Hawk has made a quite impressive start to this season. Currently they are enjoying every moment of it while sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference. Although they have lost the same number of games as the Miami heat and Milwaukee Bucks, they edge out their closest opponents due to their superior head to head record.

In his 5th season as the Head coach of the Hawks, Mike Woodson, has assembled a well-harmonized team rooster that is making their fans proud of them. In last season playoffs, the Hawks were eliminated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Semi-Finals. On the floor the team is lead by their influential captain Joe Johnson whose performance has assisted the Hawks in attaining the current status.

As the season continues to lose the smell of its newness, the Hawks know quite well it will be a very challenging journey to the playoffs. As they take to the court in their next upcoming fixtures, they will be answering one question, “We are not pace setters.” They start doing this at home in their next game, where they will be hosting the Portland Trail Blazers.
