“And then they were two.” This was the implication of last night two games that definitely were a must watch owing to their huge significance they had in the standings of both conferences. Two teams were axed from the big four and it now clear who are currently calling the shots in the NBA.
The battle for who is the best in the West took place at the Staples center where thehome team the La Lakers comfortably drowned the Suns 121-102. The Lakers missing several key players kept the Suns at arms length most of the game. With the win, the defending champions literary sent a stern message saying, “The title is not going any where.”
The Phoenix Suns needs to collect themselves and form a formidable chase team that will try to reclaim its fallen status. Closely behind them are the footsteps of the Nuggets, Mavericks, Blazers, the Rockets and the Spurs making their way.
In the Eastern conference, Cleveland Cavaliers pulled an upset by beating the Miami heat 111-104. The Heat playing at home couldn’t keep the flame, which was making them glow continue burning. Although Dwayne Wade recorded a notable 36 points, a basket more than LeBron James, it just wasn’t enough to finish the job. For the Cavs, the victory couldn’t have come at a better time than this, because they were really struggling at the start of the season.
Miami heat now joins the chasing pack of Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee bucks. The Cavs after that huge win are just behind the chasing pack holding that position together with the Orlando Magic.
The big two without a doubt are the Celtics and the Lakers in the Eastern and Western conference respectively. The burning question that is on everyone lips from today will be, how long will this two horse race last?
